The NYC Health Department (DOHMH) works to protect and promote the health of all New Yorkers. Unfortunately, differences in neighborhood resources have led to unfair health outcomes, with some New Yorkers living longer, healthier lives than others. Structural racism contributes to the disproportionate burden of disease, including COVID-19, in some communities.
