KU Title Submission Process Summary

Like

  1. Access the SFTP- Server

In order to submit your titles to Knowledge Unlatched for unlatching, you need to download a program which allows you to access the SFTP server.

We recommend free programs such as Filezilla or Cyberduck.

  1. Establish a Server Connection

After you have opened the program, you can use the server credentials below to access the SFTP server.
It is important to set the server connection protocol to “SFTP”, since most server access programs have a simple “FTP” protocol as their default setting. Additionally, you need to set the server connection port to “22”, as in the screenshot below.

Server credentials:
sftp.biblioboard.com
kunewbooks
8PMsryz+8?VHD,/j

Once you are connected, you will find a dedicated folder for your press with a subfolder for the collection you would like to submit titles to.

  1. Metadata and Files

There are several options for uploading content. If you make use of a distribution partner, such as CoreSource or BiblioVault, we are ready to set up an automated ingestion channel for title and metadata delivery. Please contact us directly to set this up. Otherwise, you can easily upload content to our SFTP server.

We accept metadata in the ONIX 2.0, 2.1 and 3.0 formats, the processing of which is the fastest , or in the Excel or CSV format. If you provide metadata in a format other than ONIX, please use our template. Custom XML metadata formats take longer to ingest.

We accept content in the PDF, EPUB2 and EPUB3 formats. Cover image files should be submitted in the JPG format and named after the respective ISBN of the book title.

Title-related files ought to be uploaded into a subfolder that corresponds precisely to the KU collection for which the title delivery is made. Should a necessary subfolder not exist already, please use the "Create Directory" function of your FTP server access software to create a subfolder the name of which is exactly the same as the name of the target KU collection, such as by consulting the list of collections in the KU Portal or searching for it at this link: https://app.knowledgeunlatched.org/overview

  1. Unlatching

After you have submitted the files for unlatching, you can notify us that your submission is complete. We will notify you automatically once the title is unlatched.

  1. Usage Reports

To access the quarterly usage reporting for your titles, please visit the app.knowledgeunlatched.org  site.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us in case you have any questions.
