Since insufficient research exists about the uptake of open science research practices in gambling-focused research, this paper provides a scoping review of 500 studies from recent years focused on gambling and problem gambling to examine the use of Open Access and transparent research practices.

This paper indicates, based on its exploratory analyses, that gambling research studies that used Open Science practices, and Open Access publishing in particular, had higher than average citation counts.
